BISMUN Association - 1st Bucharest Late Summer Seminar on International Relations and International Law
Negotiating Climate Change Concepts, Tools and Processes
Global warming. Climate Change.
What is the difference?
Cars, planes, technology development, nonorganic farming, deforestation – all are primary causes of climate change, one of the most important problems in the present.
BISMUN Association, with the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, University of Bucharest and Faculty of Law – University of Bucharest, as well as other collaborating associations and institutions, organizes the first seminar meant to raise awareness among the youth regarding the concept of climate change, the negotiations between states or people, and the entire evolutionary process of climate at global level.
The event will take place in Bucharest, at Faculty of Law – University of Bucharest, 30th August – 5th September 2010.
This seminar is dedicated to interested young students and it focuses on the topic of climate change from the perspective of international relations and international law – context in which the climate change represents the subject of some complex negotiations undertaken by the states and people of the world. The outcome of this negotiations affects and shall affect all countries of the world, regardless of their area, and all the people of the world, wherever they live.
BISMUN Association (Bucharest International Student Model United Nations) is an NGO established in order to promote and encourage the UN values, as they arise from the UN Charter, among Romanian youth and among the Romanian society. Therefore, this seminar aims to become a tradition not only for the association itself, but for whole Romania, because it raises the awareness of the youth on global issues, in a context of international relations and, especially, of international law.
The importance of this seminar is represented by the purpose that it has and which is twofold. While it intends to provide a platform for discussing the evolution and latest developments of the climate change issues in an international relation context, it will also try to describe the mechanisms involved in the most complex process of negotiations ever seen.
Participating at this large scale event, students become more aware about global problems, but also they prepare for a possible career in international relations, international law, and why not, environment law.
“1st Bucharest Late Summer Seminar on International Relations and International Law” is the best opportunity that a young student has – interested in this type of seminars – to develop on professional level.
Also, this seminar is very important because all the questions about the concept of climate change will die due to some famous specialists in this field or university professors, who will hold lectures on topics such as: “Science and Climate Change”, “Energy, Fuel and Climate Change” and more.
